The Indie (Independent) Music Genre began through artists who released material through Independent Music Labels, and shyed away from the more mainstream music scene. Modern Indie is now seen typically as a 'young' person's music genre, as many of the most famous Indie artists producing music today are young (below 30). Indie is a wide genre, which merges mainly with Folk, Pop, Rock & Country genres, so many sub-genres and hybrids can be formed.
